Okay, so life isn’t always easy as a parent. Everyday is a challenge whether you have a 8 month old, 20 year old or somewhere in between. As a mom of a 7 year old (Ava), 5 year old (Ella) and 8 month old (Brent) I find that days seem to just fly by and I am always finding a way to balance work and family life. But it is not always easy. Here are some tips to help you balance your fitness routine and still be a superstar mom, because you are a fit and fun mama and yes you can have it all.
Here are 3 of my tips:
1) Set out a schedule. As hard as it is to do it all by establishing a plan in place anything is possible. Set out the children’s clothes the night before, make lunches the day before, cook your dinner early in the day and most importantly exercise in the first part of the day (preferably when the family is still snoozing). Fail to plan and you will plan to fail. So get planning supermom and prove that all can be done!
2) Schedule family and individual time. The children and even dad all want to spend time with mom so set time to spend with the family as a whole (dinner table works) and set individual time with the children and husband. A bedtime story with the kids is usually best and an evening television show with your husband or even a 30 minute workout (it can be squats, lunges, and abs or whatever other workout you have on your mind…be creative together after the kids are snoozing.
3) Have fun! Whether you are stressing because of the lack of time during the day or your lack of feeling productive. Don’t stress, get focused and have fun! Set your mind on accomplishing individual tasks and be proud of each success (whether this is the healthy version of Chicken Kiev you have made for dinner, the math problems you have helped your 6th grader conquer, or the 5 mile run you have fit in between). Have a great time because you deserve to be a fit fun mama!
