Let me start off by saying children really do help show us what is important in life. My 8 year old daughter, 6 year daughter and 1 year old son enlighten me to what really matters every day. On vacation I was fortunate enough to experience this further when I ran a race with my daughters, did Karaoke twice with my daughter (I should mention I sing terribly), danced several dances in front of lots of people and even searched a magic land for clues (just don’t ask). And with each activity comes the enlightenment to enjoy each day. Children help us to see what really matters. Here is my take on the little ones:
1. Be proud of who you are
At one point of a synchronized dance I felt myself lost in what the next move was so I briefly paused, my older daughter Ava then stopped because I had. I immediately began dancing again because it is important that I teach her we never quit on anything in life. Be proud of who you are and always give it your all!
2. Be thankful for each moment with your kids
While I was away in Myrtle Beach I noticed my son, Brent kept grabbing my hand and holding it calling, “Mommy,” and all he wanted to do was hold my hand. It was adorable and this simple pleasure of his love for him mom really touched me. I hope to always remember this.
3. Enjoy time together
I love spending time together with my kids. Recently my husband said to me that there is nothing I would want to do without the children. He respected the devotion I have to the children. And I reflected on his comment I realized he was right. Your children are only young once so enjoy each day with them.
4. Come out of your shell
Kids need to see you for who you really are. Come out of your shell, let down your guard and let them know that even you as a parent make mistakes but also make them aware that you fix mistakes and always work hard to do your best in life.
After a weeklong vacation away, I am rejuvenated with my love, passion and energy for life, my family, my clients (who are like my 2nd family) and my own health. I am so thankful for all and you should reflect on your life too! And do not be afraid to learn a lesson from your little one every now and then 😉
