People often ask me how I find the motivation to push myself to get out for a run, bike ride or other workout each day after working in the fitness industry everyday, raising a family, cooking, cleaning and volunteering. I always reply, “I just do it.” I do not think about it or I just may change my mind, especially in inclement weather or when I have only had a few hours sleep with the baby keeping me up. But I push myself and put on my workout outfit and sneakers to hit the road for a great workout. Once I got out and embark into my workout I am always thankful that I gave myself that extra push to get started. This is all about internal motivation. What motivates you to get going? It can be as simple as motivation to look good in your bathing suit for an upcoming vacation. How are your health markers? Health markers motivate me because I want to be healthy for my children so I can lead in example and be here to take care of them. And good health is earned, it is not handed to you. Here are some motivating tips to get you going on your workout:
1. Lay out your workout outfit the night prior
If you lay out your outfit the night prior next to your bed you will be prepared to get up and get off to your workout. Prepare your workout plan the night prior also so you will be ready to go!
2. Get into a routine
Whatever workout time works best in your schedule, get into a regular routine. If you get into a routine you will find your run to become habitual. We all love routines so why not start a healthy one?
3. Eat healthy
If you get into a regular routine of eating whole grains. green smoothies, fruits and veggies you will have more energy for your run!’ Remember to just get up and go. Don’t think about it or you may rationalize a reason no to. You earn good health and you deserve to be healthy.
Have a happy and healthy day!
