As the summer nears the end, I am planning all the fun fitness related things to do. There are certain outdoor activities that can only be done in the warmer weather that I will share with you. These activities will burn a moderate amount of calories and are a lot of fun! Enjoy the rest of the summer with these active events so you can reach your fitness and health goals. Here are the fitness related things to do before summer ends.
Step out of your comfort zone to try something new by surfing. Surfing is a great workout and a heck of a lot of fun! Novice surfers can visit a local surf shop to rent your gear and pay for a lesson if you are hesitant to start. This is one of the primary fitness related things to do because it is such great fun!
2. Beach Volleyball
Grab a group of friends and visit a local park or beach to play a game of beach volleyball. This fun activity will burn a moderate amount of calories while targeting different muscle groups. You will strengthen and tone your arms and legs while building your endurance. Some local parks have a beach volleyball court, and if not you can visit a nearby beach.
3. Beach Running
I really enjoy beach running because it is such an intense workout and I love hearing the ocean while I run. I just wish I had more time to vacation to run on the beach! To run on the beach, make sure you run on packed sand or you will have ankle instability. Start out slow because this is much tougher than running on the roads!
3. Swim in a Lake Or Ocean
Swimming is a great activity to delve into in the summer months when the weather is warm. Based on your experience with swimming, you can swim in a pool, ocean or lake. If you are a beginner, do not attempt to swim in the ocean until you master swimming in a pool. There is a current in the ocean while in the pool you do not have this outside factor.
Badminton is a sport that I always enjoy in the summer months. This is a great way to stay in shape while having fun! To get the most effective workout, play a game of one-on-one. In doing so, you will burn the most calories! This activity requires minimal equipment and a net can be set up in your own backyard!
Bicycling is a great activity to do in the summer while the weather is warm. You can enjoy it solo or with a group. As a child I have wonderful memories of bicycling around our neighborhood as a family. Even when my legs hurt I was happy just enjoying this time spent together. Make sure you invest in a helmet so you can get your workout in while being safe.
Hiking is a fun and challenging fitness activity to try during the summer. Make sure you wear proper footwear that protects your feet. Go hiking with some friends or your significant other and enjoy the challenge and beautiful scenery!
